Titan Data Solutions sign warehousing and logistics deal in Rainham, East London and relocate their Sales HQ to Canary Wharf
As Titan approach the end of their first financial year and move into their new offices, we catch up with the Managing Director, Ben Jackson, to see how things are going.
Q. It’s fast approaching 18 months in business and the end of your first full financial year, so how are things looking?
I can’t say that we’re right where I expected us to be, because 18 months ago there were only four of us, with two vendors and an empty warehouse and today, we are moving into the 37th floor of one of the most iconic buildings in London. It’s very humbling and we are extremely proud of how far we have come. From a numbers’ perspective, we’re slightly ahead of budget, and most pleasing for me is that we have increased the number of customers trading with us each month since Titan launched in November 2018. We’ve secured the number one slot as Quantum’s largest distributor in EMEA and we have just signed distribution agreements with Promise Technology and Facilis Technology, two vendors who will further cement our growing footprint into M&E – and there’s many more on the horizon.
Q. How do you see the next twelve months?
As we approach our new financial year in April we have done a huge amount of work on our corporate structure, ensuring that each employee we bring in can see clear progression in their careers at Titan, and thrive in a positive and nurturing environment. This is one of the many reasons that we chose Canary Wharf as our sales location. It’s extremely well connected and will provide us with a great catchment area for new staff coming into all departments of Titan for years to come.
We are currently migrating to Oracle NetSuite making us all more efficient internally, which in turn will ensure an enhanced customer experience. We have spent many months developing our services proposition and logistics strategy, enabling us to move our sales operation away from our warehouse in Rainham and into Canary Wharf.
With an end-to-end server and storage proposition into Data Centre, and a growing M&E portfolio, we have a number of new distribution partnerships we will be announcing, and a channel first in Cybersecurity. We will be inviting both new and existing customers to a series of seminars to be held in Canary Wharf.
Q. There has been external recognition of your success with some industry awards which must be pleasing?
We were obviously delighted to win the Storage Magazine’s One to Watch Company Award and secure a Highly Commended Award with CRN for the coveted Storage Distributor of the Year title. We were up against some well-established Distributors which confirmed to me and my fellow Directors that we were achieving what we set out to do by creating a new breed of distributor.
Q. What do you think are the key factors that have helped the company do so well?
The people – every single person in the business has contributed to our success. The benefits of working in a small company is that everyone can see the impact of their contribution to the number, so there is a real sense of joint ownership in everything we do. Obviously getting customers to buy into our proposition has been critical, backed up by a very supportive portfolio of vendors.
