Seagate launches Next-Generation Exos X Storage Arrays: David Treadwell, Solutions Director at Titan Data Solutions, talks about the latest innovation from Seagate and how this development further enhances Titan’s storage proposition.
With an unprecedented increase in data creation, enterprises are being challenged to find new ways to manage increasing volumes of information while using it to improve their business outcomes. How businesses cope with the increasing growth and sprawl of data will have a huge impact on their success moving forward.
Seagate recently announced the launch of its Next-Generation Exos X Storage Arrays, the advanced storage arrays powered by Seagate’s sixth generation controller architecture.
The new Exos X systems feature up to twice the performance of the previous generation and enhanced enterprise-class durability. To help protect the stored data, Exos X systems incorporate ADAPT (Advanced Distributed Autonomic Protection Technology) erasure coding with Seagate’s innovative self-healing storage technology ADR (Autonomous Drive Regeneration).
From Treadwell’s point of view these latest innovations bring significant benefits. ‘The Seagate Exos X Storage Arrays are suitable for environments ranging from small businesses to large enterprises that often have petabyte-scale data sets’. He continued. ‘The controllers provide reliability and self-healing, as well as ease of setup, maintenance, and expansion. They are also built for speed and resilience and will deliver consistently high performance and reliability’.
Titan can provide everything from pre-sales technical consultancy, solution design and deployment, as well as post-sales support and the Seagate EXOS storage arrays are often at the core of many of the solutions they provide.
Treadwell poses the question that your end customers might ask – why should I upgrade to this new generation of Exos?
‘Next-generation RAID offers twice the performance for faster backup, media editing, and analytics while delivering improved ADAPT technology and Autonomous Drive Regeneration (ADR)’. He continues. ‘You also get all the features synonymous with the Seagate platform, while ultimately reducing your customers’ TCO’.
Ken Claffey, Senior Vice President at Seagate is also very clear on the advantages of the new systems.
“Featuring the new controller engineered and built by Seagate, the new Exos X systems can achieve a new level of RAID array availability, reliability, and performance for better efficiency while significantly reducing administrative burden. Exos X systems will help our data centre customers form a future-proof data management strategy.”
There is equal enthusiasm from Dorin Vanderjack, Vice President and General Manager at Intel.
“We are delighted with the introduction of Seagate’s new RAID controller that delivers high performance and cost-effective system solutions.” He added. “At this time of unprecedented data growth, integrating Intel® Xeon® D Processors with Seagate’s enhanced ASIC-based architecture improves customers’ total cost of ownership and helps drive greater business value from their hardware and from their data.” For any resellers or MSPs wanting to talk to their customers about this new generation of Seagate Exos X controllers, then Titan can support you all the way through the process from initial concepts and discussion, right the way through to final delivery of a tailored solution.
